Supercapacitor based cost effective hybrid energy storage system with reduction in battery size for diesel generator cold cranking

چکیده

The supercapacitor characteristic of high-power delivery coupled with very fast charge/discharge cycles find its use in hybrid energy storage systems. In this paper, the bank is integrated small capacity lead-acid battery for development cost-effective system to crank vintage model diesel-generator. developed uses microcontroller-based controls active voltage balancing circuit reliable cranking, enhanced life and reduced failures at low temperatures are advantages system. resulted size reduction by almost 80%, thus, replacement cost, besides devising a general formula sizing different diesel generators an innovative outcome research study. multiple cold cranking single charge another novelty, charging from available automobile added feature paves ways maintenance.
